We launched the GIS WebTech Award in 2019 to recognize economic developers advancing the profession through leadership in GIS technology. We believe that early adopters who pave the way for widespread use of technology should be recognized for their groundbreaking work.
The GIS WebTech Award, like our company, has taken off in the four years since then. In response to growing interest in the award as well as the launch of our all-new Guru technology, last year we opened up the process to accept nominations from across the economic development profession. We received numerous nominations and recognized three winners, the first time the award was won by more than one individual.
This year we are following the same process and issuing this call for nominations for the 2023 GIS WebTech Award for Leadership in GIS Technology for Economic Development. If you or a colleague have done some exciting work applying GIS for economic development, we want to hear about it! The award is open to everyone in economic development, whether they are a researcher, a technology professional, a marketer, a project manager, or a generalist.
Best of all, there are no forms to fill out or web links to follow. To nominate someone simply drop me an email at ron@giswebtech.com describing their work and how it solved a problem or advanced a project. If applicable, feel free to include a snip or image file illustrating the work. Be sure to include your contact information (email and cell phone) so I can get back to you, as well as the contact information for the person you are nominating.
If you have done exciting work in GIS please do not be shy about nominating yourself!
Nominations are open until close of business on August 31. If you have any questions on the process just reach out. I would be happy to discuss it.
We want to thank those who nominate someone, so everyone making a nomination will be automatically entered into a raffle for a $100 Amazon gift card!
We are excited to hear about all the cutting-edge technology work done by leading economic developers!
