GIS WebTech is the leading innovator in GIS technology for economic development, driving record growth for our company and record results for our clients.
We believe that technology is rapidly changing the way the economic development profession operates. We believe winning economic development organizations in coming years will be those that embrace technology and utilize it to create competitive advantage for their communities.
We also believe that economic development professionals that have the foresight to recognize these trends and the courage to act in advance of the crowd deserve to be recognized for their leadership in driving the profession forward.
But when we looked around the industry we found no recognition of technology leadership at all.
We believe so strongly in its importance that we decided to create an award to provide this recognition.
It is with great pleasure that we announce Tim Duerr of Richland County Economic Development as the winner of the first annual GIS WebTech Award for Leadership in GIS Technology for Economic Development!
A long-time leader in South Carolina economic development, Tim was among the first in the industry to recognize the wide-ranging applications of GIS technology to economic development, and one of the true leaders in driving its adoption. For example, Tim was among the first in the industry to:
– Understand the value of standardizing internal GIS with external sites and buildings apps on a single platform
– Recognize the importance of continuous adoption of new GIS functionality in online site selection apps
– Adopt CRM technology for both project management and management of property databases, and integrate CRM with GIS so that data flows seamlessly between the two
– Integrate local data into online site selection apps, allowing differentiation from competing communities
In addition, Tim is dedicated to the profession and a tireless worker on behalf of the communities he serves. For these reasons, our entire team is pleased to name Tim Duerr the winner of our 2019 award!
